Police Scotland is appealing for witnesses after an 86-year-old woman was robbed of her handbag yesterday morning (Wednesday, March 25) in Leven.
The incident took place at around 10.10 a.m. near to the junction with Scoonie Road and Durie Street when the victim was walking across the pedestrian crossing.
She was approached by a man who pushed her to the ground and robbed her of her handbag, before running off down Church Street, towards the Promenade.
The male is described as being aged between 20 to 30 years old, approximately 5ft 10in - 6 ft tall and of skinny build. He was wearing a white coloured long sleeved shirt, black coloured trousers and a distinctive brown beanie hat with yellow and red stripes.
Detective Sergeant Jim McGuinness said: “The elderly woman was not injured as a result of this incident, however was understandably shaken.
“Local officers will be carrying out high visibility reassurance patrols in the area and speaking with local residents and business owners whilst viewing CCTV footage of the area.
“I would appeal for anyone that was in the area who might have seen this person, seen anyone acting strangely or just as importantly who recognises the description of the male to contact the Police using the non-emergency 101 number.”
