Election 2016: 4.00 a.m. for Fife results

Fife's election results are expected around 4.00 a.m. on Friday morning.

Steve Grimmond, Returning Officer, confirmed the timescale in a pre-count briefing with media at Michael Woods Sports Centre, Glenrothes, which is hosting three of four counts in the Kingdom - Kirkcaldy, Glenrothes and north-east Fife.

The Dunfermline-Cowdenbeath count is being staged at Rothes Halls.

He said he anticipates being able to declare the constituency results ‘‘by 4.00 a.m.’’ with the list results coming at 6,00 a.m.

It is likely that the Glenrothes seat will be the first to be announced, simply because of the closer proximity of polling stations to the count HQ.

Mr Grimmond reported no issues at any polling booths across Fife.

All polls have now closed and Mr Grimmond has just finished briefing staff and the count is now underway.
