A DYSART woman is set to tread the boards as Serena in ‘Fame’ at Glasgow’s King’s Theatre.
Emma Nisbet will play the lead role in the hit musical when it is brought to the stage by The Lyric Club next month.
The 23-year-old moved to Glasgow, where she still lives, in 2009 to study musical theatre at the University of the West of Scotland, after completing an HND in Musical Theatre at the Adam Smith College in Kirkcaldy.
Emma explained her interest in performing started from a young age: “I always wanted to perform,”
“I moved to Kirkcaldy when I was 12 and started out in Dysart panto before going on to join Kirkcaldy Amateur Dramatic Society (KADS) and Kirkcaldy Amateur Operatic Society (KAOS).
“I was also given fantastic opportunities through Balwearie High School and the college.”
Now Emma is excited to have the chance to play Serena in the production, which runs from March 5-9.
She said: “It’s a really good part and I get lots of good songs.
“It’s quite a similar part to myself.
“The whole musical is about performing art school students graduating and I can relate to that.
“I have always known a lot of her songs from the musical from singing in different shows.
“When I auditioned for the part I felt it was my kind of role, it’s nice to see the progression.
“The production has a really strong cast in terms of principals.
“It’s good fun, it’s really high energy and there’s lots of great songs.
“It’s exciting playing at the King’s Theatre in Glasgow as it’s a brilliant stage to get to perform on as lots of other people have played there before.”
