Recycling centres in Pittenweem and St Andrews are among those that have re-opened.

Mr Rennie said: “It seems clear to me that if the council can safely open the other recycling centres then they are entirely capable of safely opening these ones too.

“I want to commend the council on an efficient and simple system, minimising queues and maintaining sensible measures. I see no reason they can’t re-open the other centres.”

Ms Chamberlain added: “I’m pleased to see the list of recycling centres opening and the effective system the council have implemented at them.

“However, many people in Ladybank and Cupar are still awaiting their chance to dispose of months of recycling.

“They have been patient and abided by the rules not to travel too far from their homes, it’s time their local centres are opened.”

Robin Baird, chief operating officer for Fife Resource Solutions, which runs the centres on behalf of the council, said: “It is our intention to continue to review sites to ensure we make more available and as such are pleased to confirm that we are working to open Ladybank Recycling Centre from next week.”
