Fife community group wins award for beautiful village

An East Neuk community group has been rewarded for its environmental efforts.

Beautiful Kilconquhar was presented with a gold in the Wee Village Category at the Beautiful Scotland Awards held in Haddington last week.

The event, organised by environmental charity Keep Scotland Beautiful, brought together community groups, local authorities and businesses from across Scotland.

There were 10 winners from Fife, meaning the Kingdom retained its place as being the region with the highest number of winners.

Pete Leonard, operations director of Keep Scotland Beautiful, commented: “Now in its 52nd year, Beautiful Scotland continues to provide the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of Scotland’s volunteers, local authority staff and businesses and to recognise the tireless efforts of communities across the country who work to clean up, green up and beautify Scotland’s villages, towns and cities.

“I would like to commend the groups from Fife for their fantastic work.

“It is thanks to their efforts that local spaces and places they treasure are maintained to such high standards.”

There were 13 category winners, as well as 13 discretionary awards, presented during the event.
