Giant regenerator arrives at Mossmorran after long slow journey from Burntisland docks

The 170 tonne, 14 metre by 6 metre Regenerator, is a clever piece of engineering that heats and cools air from the plant’s gas turbine.
It arrived on site during the early hours of Friday, February – after a 700-mile journey from the Netherlands.

Hide AdIt travelled by ship, arriving at Burntisland East Dock last Monday morning.
Then late last Thursday night, with a full police escort, the regeneratormade its way from Burntisland to Mossmorran.
Roads through Burntisland were closed for a short period to allow the huge flat-bed truck and its cargo to pass through safely over the hill towards Cowdenbeath.
Billy Hogg, Project Manager, said: “The journey was well captured by residents in Burntisland.
“The streets were mobbed, windows were wide open and even babies were being well wrapped up and taken out into the street to watch it passing by.”
