Cupar YMCA-YWCA launched the Gable End Appeal in August, seeking £20,000 needed to undertake work on the gable end of Marathon House.

This week the organisation announced that it had reached that target, thanks to the support of the community and funding from the Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme and Awards for All.

Joint chairman Dave Montgomery said: “We launched our appeal at the end of August last year and here we are ready for contractors to begin works in the next couple of months.

“The support we have received from the town and local business has been amazing. We very much value the support we have received from individuals, local and national funders and the public generally.”

General secretary Norma Graham added: “There will be scaffolding erected to undertake work at the side of the car park but we will keep members and users of the Y updated on access arrangements. This repair work is vital to ensure that the building remains in a good condition.”
