A plucky six-year-old from Newburgh will be getting up for school earlier than usual tomorrow (Friday) - all in the name of charity.
Euan Gray, a pupil at Dunbog Primary School, is walking nine miles to raise funds for the children’s surgical unit in Ninewells Hospital.
He’ll be leaving home at 7am to walk four-and-a-half miles across the hills from his home to school and will make the return journey at the end of the school day, making a round trip of nine miles.
Euan’s mum, Lynne, explained: “The aim is to raise money to make being in hospital a less daunting experience for children and to support the playroom and outdoor garden at the children’s hospital.
“Euan had minor surgery in the children’s unit nearly two years ago and his anxiety was overcome using the electric cars which take kids to theatre.
“Sadly, the car was broken and so it was pushed by a nurse. Euan wanted to replace them so that other children could benefit from them.
“We have already raised enough money to buy the cars, which is fantastic, so any additional cash raised will be donated to the long stay ward playroom and garden to be spent on equipment for children in hospital for a longer period.”
The family has also set up a donation page for anyone wishing to support Euan with his walk.
