Fife’s European election count will take place in Glenrothes on Sunday - and the Fife Free Press will be covering the event live online.

With Thursday’s poll over, attention now swings to the Michael Woods Sports Centre where the count will start around 6.00 p.m.

The votes will decide who represents the constituency of Scotland in Strasbourg and Brussels for the next five years.

Five of Scotland’s six current MEPs are up for re-election; David Martin and Catherine Stihler of the Labour Party, Ian Hudghton and Alyn Smith of the SNP and the Lib Dem’s George Lyon. Conservative MEP Struan Stevenson is retiring having served as an MEP for 15 years.

The FFP will be at the count on Sunday evening and you can follow updates on

We will also be tweeting live from the event - follow @fifefreepressed @ffppaul and @ffpdawn using the hashtag #EU2014.

Full analysis of the results will also be in our papers next week, so pick up a copy of the Fife Free Press, east Fife Mail, Glenrothes Gazette, Fife Herald and St Andrews Citizen.
