Exciting new plans for Riverside Park in Glenrothes have been announced.

Community involvement in making improvements and a summer festival are among the plans currently underway by Fife Council, in particular by Take a Pride in Glenrothes.

Margaret Reilly from that group revealed more: “There is huge potential for the park. We are going to have a Community Gains 2 - ‘your park your ideas’ - working with 21 primary schools across the Glenrothes area.

“We will also be having bigger consultations in the future, and a 3D model of the park will be displayed throughout the town as part of the bigger Riverside management plan.

“We hope to improve the park and encourage more people to go there, with signposts linking the park to the town.”

Mrs Reilly gave details on a festival planned for next July in the park.

She added: “We are launching the first ever ‘Weekend in Riverside Park’, on the first day of the Olympic Games next year.

“We have a lot of exciting things planned, really going for it big style.

“There is some funding available, and hopefully this event will generate money in the town, bringing people into the town centre.”
