MSP David Torrance has seen for himself a new project which offers support and mentoring to parents in Levenmouth.

The Gateway project is one of four in Scotland to be funded by the Big Lottery’s improving futures fund and provides family learning programmes to parents.

Mr Torrance visited those who are taking advantage of the programme at a ‘family fun’ session in Kirkland High School.

Another of the pilot programmes is being held at Aberhill Primary School.

A spokesperson for the project said: “We were grateful to David Torrance for coming along and supporting our first session.

“Ben Simpson enjoyed one-to-one football tuition from David; he was especially proud of his score of 14 goals.”

Following his participation in the session Mr Torrance said: “I was delighted to be able to take part actively in the first session of this project.

“I think I had as much fun as the children.

“I will continue to lend my support over the next three years and only hope I get the opportunity to practise my footballing skills again.”
