THE congregation of Cupar Old Parish Church has been introduced to their new children and families worker, Miss Trudi Newton, who has joined the church’s staff.

Originally from Orkney, Trudi comes to the Old Parish Church with 15 years of experience of working with children and young people in a variety of settings.

For the last four years she worked as a children’s worker with Crieff Parish Church where she developed many innovative projects for young people of all ages.

Previously, Trudi graduated with an MA (Hons) degree in religious studies from Edinburgh University, while she also has extensive interests in art, music and the Girl Guides.

Trudi said: “I am really excited to have begun working in Cupar.

“Everyone has made me feel so welcome and I am looking forward to getting to know the children and families of the congregation and the community.

“It is an honour to be able to work with children, their families and young people and to support and encourage in any way I can.

“I look forward to the challenges and new ventures which lie ahead.’

Rev. Dr Ken Jeffrey, minister of the Old Parish Church, said: “Trudi is a very deeply committed and enthusiastic young woman and it is with an enormous sense of anticipation that we look forward to the work which Trudi will undertake with the children and families of the Old Parish Church and with the young people of our wider community.”
