East Neuk business Ardross Farm Shop has scooped a national honour.

The hugely popular shop - a member of ‘Food from Fife’ - has been named Farm Shop of the Year.

The success has come in the UK-wide Farm Shop & Deli Awards, run in partnership with Olives Et Al.

Ardross, near Elie, is one of 12 2014 category winners, and now has the chance to be named Retailer of the Year in the Farm Shop and Deli Show at Birmingham’s NEC in March.

The Farm Shop & Deli Awards recognise the very best standards in speciality retail and celebrate the highest levels of service, product knowledge, initiative, innovation and community involvement.

The Farm Shop & Deli Awards received a record number of entrants from nearly 300 businesses across the UK, along with thousands of public votes from consumers for their favourite speciality retailers.

The 12 category winners and 25 commended were chosen following a day of intensive judging along with mystery visits conducted throughout December by Nigel Barden, chair of judges.

The scores will now be counted and judged within the 10 UK regions, announcing the Regional Champions in February – these winners will go through to the final with the chance to win Retailer of the Year.

The overall winner will be announced at the Farm Shop & Deli Show on March 25 at Birmingham’s NEC.

Ardross Farm Shop, run by the Pollock family, provides just one stop between farm and kitchen.

Nikki Pollock of Ardross expressed delight over the award, describing it as “amazing” in the face of UK-wide competition.
