The 23-year-old was elected by students to take on the role as president of the Fife College Students’ Association (FCSA) at Fife College which has campuses in Dunfermline, Kirkcaldy, Glenrothes, Leven and Rosyth.

Raymond officially accepted the post as Student President at the start of July following an election campaign that took place before the students broke off for the summer. Raymond, who previously studied HND Acting and Performance, has a range of experience and a real craving for creativity which will help him fulfil his role successfully and make this year another great year for the Students’ Association and the students of Fife College.

The Fife College Students’ Association represents students on everything that happens at the College. They liaise with the senior management team, feedback on issues affecting students, attend Board meetings and represent the students at various committee meetings. They also work closely with other departments within the College such as Guidance and Marketing.

As the new president, Raymond is keen to continue and improve on the great work that has been done previously.

Raymond said: “It has only been a couple of weeks but I am so excited to get started. I am working with a great team and we are all looking forward to working closely with the students to allow for them to have the best student experience possible.”

“We look forward to organising the annual Freshers’ fair that will go ahead the week commencing August 29. This is just one of many events we plan on organising to get as many students as possible involved and settled into college.”

Raymond will work closely with two other elected members Tom McPherson (37) from Glenrothes who was appointed vice president for Education and Representation and Ash Tucker (19) from Kirkcaldy who is vice president for Welfare and Equality.

Tom said: “I am thrilled to be working alongside such a great team. I am confident it is going to be a great year.”

The three will work alongside Debbie Chalmers, the general manager of the Students’ Association and Craig Walker, student engagement assistant.

Debbie said: “I am delighted to be working with such an enthusiastic and passionate team. This sort of dedication and commitment is exactly what we need to continue to make the Students’ Association a great success.”
