And up to 2000 posts are likely to go over the next three years. Councillors will meet on Thursday to set the budget for 2016/17, and will be looking to find savings of £38m to balance the books. Proposals due to be put forward by the Labour administration are expected to include a number of ‘permanent’ and ‘temporary’ cuts. Council leader David Ross said: “As a direct result of this budget and the savings we are required to make we will lose around 235 jobs, and a further 1000-2000 jobs as part of the transformation over the next three years.” The council will be looking to reduce its workforce through early retirement and voluntary severance. There are no proposals for compulsory redundancies.
