A top NHS healthcare team and a dedicated group of volunteers from Fife have been announced as finalists at the Scottish Health Awards 2014.
A group of ladies who established a working group to help local people with cancer have been shortlisted for the Volunteers Award.
The trio created a committee which included organisations such as NHS Fife and MacMillan Cancer Care to raise funds to build the first purpose built hospice in Kirkcaldy.
They entered Victoria Hospice as volunteers, where they continue to offer support and companionship to patients.
The maternity team at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy has also been announced as finalist in the Services to Women and Children Award category.
The team, lead by Anne Mackinnon and Jenny Boyd, was selected in recognition of its outstanding work in implementing a process for the early recognition and treatment of sepsis in pregnant women.
Last year’s award winners included Gail Hogg, who is based at Whyteman’s Brae, Kirkcaldy. She won the Therapist Award last year in recognition of her invaluable contribution to Scottish healthcare.
The awards event is on November 6.
