FIFE Society for the Blind (FSB) has been awarded £5000 to run an equipment loan fund for local people with sight problems.

Levenmouth Area Committee agreed to use the money from local budgets to support the project after hearing that nearly a quarter of referrals to the FSB are Levenmouth residents.

Alan Suttie, of FSB, said the scheme would help it target people in the area.

Councillor Tom Adams, chairman of the committee, said: “There are obviously a lot of local residents who might benefit from this scheme, which we’re delighted to be able to support. I look forward to hearing how getting to use technology aids and equipment is making a difference to local people that wouldn’t otherwise have access to such aids.”
