This week’s cold weather looks set to continue into the weekend, with a Met Office Yellow Warning for Fife.

The Kingdom is set to be hit by ice, as well as snow and sleet in some areas, tonight into tommorrow morning.

It comes after heavy and prolonged snow this morning saw some school closures.

John Fergus School in Glenrothes, Paxton Nursery and Woodlands Family Nurture Centre in Methil, Benarty Nursery in Lochore are among those to be closed.

The Met Office says of Saturday’s warning: “Ice is likely to form through Friday night and last into Saturday morning with some sleet and snow showers continuing in places.

“There will probably be ice on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths, potentially resulting in some injuries from slips and falls.”

This week the Kingdom has seen relentless snow and ice which has caused serious issues on the roads.

The Quarry Road into Kirkcaldy was closed on Tuesday after a crash involving two cars, while an earlier incident involving five vehicles caused a road in Glenrothes to be closed.
