Youngsters in the Kingdom are being given the chance to perform on stage by auditioning for a new production.

Fife Opera is preparing its new production of ‘Faust’ by Gounod, sung in English.

Performances will feature a children’s spirit chorus and the group is looking for youngsters to take part.

As well as getting the chance to sing, the children will also have a lot of fun on stage and will work with Peter Easson, director; Alistair Digges, musical director and Rosemary Nairne, children’s chorus director.

The artistic team have a wealth of experience working with the country’s leading youth choirs, opera companies, theatre groups and ensembles.

It is a fanastic opportunity - both musically and dramatically - for youngsters aged between eight and 14.

Auditions will be held on Wednesday, June 24 from 7.00 - 9.00 p.m. at the Hunter Halls, Kirk Wynd, Kirkcaldy. The auditions will take the form of a fun workshop, where the children will learn some of the music from the opera. No preparation or experience is required, anyone interested can come along and give it a try!

Rehearsals for children selected from the workshop will be on a mixture of Sunday afternoons and Wednesday evenings during mid-August, September and October.

A schedule will be available nearer the time. Dress rehearsals and performance week are from Sunday, November 1 to Saturday, November 7. Anyone interested in coming along on June 24 should let Fife Opera know by calling (01592) 596904 or emailing:
