Fifers light beacon for Aleppo

Around 30 Fifers joined a worldwide initiative to show support for the Syrian city of Aleppo.

As darkness fell on Sunday, a beacon was lit at Dysart beach as part of the ‘A Light For Aleppo’ initiative.

The aim was to send a message of solidarity to the people trapped in a city under bombardment.

Refuge Fife joined the local efforts led by the University of Edinburgh which encouraged people to light up both sides of the Forth with beacons on its beaches.

Beacons were also lit in Crail and St Andrews.

The gathering in Dysart included three of Fife’s Syrian refugees to the event.
