The whole school will move into its new Windmill Road premises on July 1, the last school day of this term.

The Loughborough Road buildings will be open this Saturday between 9am and noon for anyone who used to attend or work at the school to say goodbye before it closes its doors for the final time.

The last open morning attracted a huge turnout of around 300 former pupils wanting to have a last look around their old seat of learning.

Among them were two elderly ladies from Dysart aged 96 and 97, who the Press is keen to speak to. If you know who they are, please get in touch.

Meanwhile, as completion of the new Windmill Community Campus draws near, a public information event is being held to give people the opportunity to see proposals for a limited programme of demolition work at the old Viewforth High School facility.

The event is to be held in the existing school on Monday, June 20 from 4-7pm.

Colin Mccredie, Better Futures Fife programme manager with Fife Council, explained: “Demolition work is due to start in September and will be finished by the end of the year. This event will be a good opportunity to share the demolition plans and give assurances about the listed buildings that will be retained.

“I’d encourage everyone with a local interest to drop-in and find out a bit more about the work that is planned on site.”

The new Windmill Community Campus is part of the £200m-plus Building Fife’s Future Programme and the building is expected to be handed over during the summer, in time for the start of the new school term in August 2016.
