This is the second time in as many weeks that firefighters have been called out to deal with a fire at the derelict building.

At the start of January firefighters were called out after there were reports of a fire which had broke out in one of the former classrooms.

The old Viewforth building was initially hit by fire in October 2017, having been empty since the school’s relocation to the Windmill Campus.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 12.25am on Saturday, February 15 to reports of a fire within a derelict building on Loughborough Road, Kirkcaldy.

“Operations Control mobilised two appliances to the road where firefighters extinguished the fire.

“Crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”
