Kirkcaldy band The Receiving End formed in 1985. The original line up was Danny Holland on vocals/bass, Steve Kennedy on guitar, Alan Bernard on drums and Jeremy Pullar on guitar.
The four-piece Indie rock band played at the usual haunts around Fife with a few gigs in Edinburgh. After a couple of years the line up changed and Bill Thaw joined the band on guitar. Danny was a fantastic talent, had a great voice and was an accomplished bass player. The Receiving End’s music was similar to that of REM and similar tuneful guitar bands of the time. Jeremy left the band in 1989, but the rest of the members continued for another couple of years, releasing a four track CD which sold quite well. Membership also changed with Iain Douglas joining on drums and later Andy Kelly on guitar.
The four-piece guitar-based Indie rock band were once described as putting the small town of Kirkcaldy on the British music scene map.
The Receiving End not only played gigs locally, they also performed at venues in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
