FP100 Fife bands 84. Legal Tender

In the ‘70s, the local music scene wasn’t complete without country style outfit Legal Tender.

They were Al Hughes, Dougie Hunter, Bill McCulloch and John Harrower on drums and performed a lot of country rock style music, including Neil Young, the Eagles, Buffalo Springfield, Ozark Mountain Daredevils etc.

Legal Tender played all round Scotland, and narrowly missed a record deal in the ‘70s with the long defunct Anchor Records.

In the days of residencies, Paris played the Apollo Lounge Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, but the ‘big night of the week’ - always packed out - was Legal Tender on a Friday night!

The band later metamorphosised into Side Effects.
