Situated in the Auchmuty area of Glenrothes across from the bus station, you will find a statue of dancing children.
The bronze-cast sculpture simply titled ‘The Dream’ was created in early 1985 by the town artist Malcolm Robertson.
The main aim of the art work was to celebrate the natural and easy friendship bonds of many young people regardless of their race or colour.
The sculpture, which features five youngsters holding hands and dancing in a circle, were all based on local Glenrothes children.
It is also located evocatively close to the standing stones of the town’s War Memorial.
An exact replica of ’the Dream’ statue was later gifted to the people of Glenrothes’ twin town of Böblingen, Baden-Württemberg in Germany just a few years later.
