Fresh air fitness for Glenrothes residents

A new ‘green gym’ has been installed in Macedonia after funding was approved by the Glenrothes area committee.

And committee chairman councillor Bill Brown has already been put through his paces when he went to check out the new equipment first hand this week.

“It is fantastic and I hope everyone in the area will have as much fun with it as I 
have,” Cllr Brown told the Gazette.

“We have funded the green gym in response to requests from the local community.Through our anti-poverty work the community café has been providing meals, and fun activities for families in Macedonia and Riverside Park during school holidays.”

The work is funded by ‘Starter for ten’’ to the tune of £10,000.

The ideas were developed and voted on by people from Macedonia who have since seen the benefits first hand with the introduction of community planting and clean up projects, painting of the Glenwood flats stairwell, equipment for the Southwood Tots group and also improving the garden space in the Community house.

The funding has been warmly welcomed by the community, said JP Easton,Fife Council’s community learning development officer who is leading the initiative.

“Residents are at the forefront of shaping their community for the better and that is fantastic,” he said.
