The documentary has caught the imagination of hockey fans in north America and now the UK.

Ice Guardians takes an in-depth look at the role of the enforcer in the NHL at a time when fans, experts, the media and the game itself is split over the thorny issue of fighting.

It speaks to the men, including many legendary NHL enforcers, whose job it is to stand up and fight for their team-mates and the powerful impact such a role can have on their lives, and their own sporting ambitions.

And it looks beyond the footage of on-ice brawls to find out more about the people throwing, and facing, the punches, and finds out how they cope in a role which can take its toll on them physically and mentally.

Brett Harvey’s documentary gives them a rare voice at a time when their very existence is under threat as the sport, and society, changes.
