The exercise will give young people the opportunity to have a say in the activities they would like to see organised over the summer school holidays this year.

Shonagh Barclay, Chair of the Youth Strategy Group said: “This is the first time that we have taken this approach to designing the youth work summer activities programme. However we know that young people are the experts in deciding what they want to see happening and we hope that, through this process, we’ll be able to match their expectations.”

Earlier in the month, over 365 young people spoke to community workers at market place events in Kirkland, Buckhaven and St Andrews high schools.

Pupils completed a questionnaire to gauge which activities they felt were important to see happening over the summer period. A prize draw was organised for those who submitted ideas and a £30.00 Amazon voucher was won by Lauren Braddish from Buckhaven High School.

Any group working with young people can apply for funding from the Youth Strategy Group’s summer budget.

Proposals and costings must be submitted by Friday, April 8 2016.

The applications will be shortlisted using the information gathered from the young people’s questionnaires and, after the Easter holidays, high school pupils will be asked to vote for their favourites.

The preferred applications will then be presented to Levenmouth Area Committee in May for final approval before the successful groups are informed.
