Funeral of former Buckhaven High pupil

Theo-James Droog (17) died last Wednesday at his home in Forfar after suffering an asthmatic attack, leaving his family and all who knew him mourning the popular teenager who has been described as ‘the life and soul of the party.’

His grieving mother, Fiona, said: “He was in his final year at Forfar Academy and had only just decided that he wanted to go into dietetics.

“He had had a mixed school life because of his asthma but his teachers have said he had thrown himself into his final year and was managing everything he needed to achieve his goals and the path he had chosen.

“He wanted to go into dietetics because he had struggled with weight due to the steroids he had to take because of his asthma.”

Fiona explained her son had been a fit and healthy two-year-old until he was given his MMR jab - he suffered his first asthmatic attack one month later which left him struggling to walk.

Originally from Bo’ness, Theo-James moved with his family to Fife when he was seven years old and attended Denbeath Primary School and then Buckhaven High School.

The family moved to Forfar when he was 13 and he attended Forfar Academy.

Last year he had three bad spells with his asthma and was admitted to intensive care on each occasion.

Fiona continued: “You would never know there was anything wrong as he was always the life and soul of the party.

“He always said he was going to be famous but he is famous for the wrong thing.”

The family has gained a lot of support from Theo-James’s friends and teachers.

His funeral will take place at the East and Old Parish Church in Forfar at 12.45pm.

There will also be a collection at the church for Asthma UK.
