A major event is to be held at the SRUC Elmwood Campus in Cupar tomorrow (Saturday) to mark International Women’s Day.
The event, which is organised jointly by SRUC, the Fife Centre for Equalities and Fife Council, aims to inspire local women to try their hand at something new.
The theme for the day is ‘Make it Happen’ and it will include stalls and demonstrations offering everything from crafts to dancing.
“We hope that the attractions that are on offer will go some way to inspiring women to ‘have a go’ and try something different, whether it be taking up a hobby, volunteering, looking at changing their career or considering going into business,” said organiser Helen Fraser-White.
“It is a day for women, by women. Such is the dedication and the goodwill of the performers and stallholders who were involved in the last event that they have volunteered their time and resources, once again, to make this event one to remember.”
The event, which is free to attend, will be officially launched by Councillor Margaret Kennedy at 10.30 am and a free bus will be laid on to transport people from Cupar town centre to the venue. The service begins at 10.15am and will run from WH Smith at regular intervals.
There’ll be a diverse programme of activities, including Chinese dancing, Arabic writing, baking, crafts, cooking with herbs, a plant doctor, drumming, keeping safe, an Italian food demonstration and much more. www.internationalwomensday.com
