This is no ordinary handbag ... this is a Mulberry bag worth over £1000 and it’s one of the star prizes at the 2014 ladies’ lunch for Maggie’s Fife

The bayswater pink glossy goat bag could be yours if you attend the ‘Handbags and Gladrags’ fundraiser on Sunday, May 11.

There’s just one month to go until the big day, and the Mulberry bag is just one of the many great prizes that have been donated.

Others include a limited edition signed print ‘Thoughts of You’ by Jack Vettriano, from Heartbreak Publishing.

Local celebrity chef, Eadie Manson has also donated his time to cook dinner for four in the luxury of a lucky bidder’s home.

Elspeth Salter, centre head for Maggie’s Fife, said: “This year’s ladies lunch looks to be an amazing occasion with real glitz and wonderful prizes to match. It would be a tremendous support to the service we offer in Fife for it to be a total sell-out.”

The event, which follows on from the success of last year’s inaugural ladies lunch, is being organised by the Maggie’s Fife Associate Fundraising Board.

And the organisers are looking forward to the big day.

Sharon Hopkinson, board member, said: “I’m so pleased with the buzz created by the ladies lunch - I am really excited about the day.

“We are still looking for raffle and auction prizes so if any local business can donate something towards the event please get in touch.”

Pamela Stevenson, fellow board member, added: “Excitement is certainly building, it’s an event not to be missed!

“Tickets are still available so ladies who would like to go need to book now to secure the limited seats lefts.”

This year’s lunch will be held at Forrester Park Resort at Cairneyhill.

Many features from 2013 have been retained due to popular demand such as celebrity host Fred McAulay and legendary 70s entertainers The Soul Kings with their big wigs.

With this year’s ‘Handbags and Gladrags’ theme, each guest is asked to bring along a good quality handbag they no longer want.

Guests will be provided with a luggage tag, where they can put the amount they think the bag is worth. The bag will then be sold at the event.

Please note it is not essential to bring a bag to come along!

Tickets for the lunch are £48, including a drinks reception and a three-course meal with coffee.

Stagecoach are providing vintage buses for guests from St Andrews, Cupar, Glenrothes, Kirkcaldy and Dunfermline for just £5 return.
