St Paul’s and St Mary’s Church has been awarded £80,823 by the Big Lottery Fund Scotland.

The funding will allow the church to refurbish its hall and stage for the benefit of local Auchmuty residents.

It is hoped the planned refurbishment will not only make the church hall more accessible for existing users, but also create an opportunity for future community groups, such as a junior choir, to thrive.

MSP Jenny Gilruth congratulated the church on securing the funding.

“St Paul’s and St Mary’s Church provides a hub for a number of community groups in the Auchmuty area,” the Glenrothes MSP said.

“It’s great news that this substantial funding grant will allow the church to refurbish their hall and stage for the benefit of local residents.

“I would delighted to see more community groups take advantage of the new facilities once the refurbishment has been complete.”

Ms Gilruth has also submitted a motion at the Scottish Parliament, congratulating the church on being awarded the funding and noting that the refurbishments will benefit the residents of Auchmuty.

It also notes the improvements will make the hall more usable for other groups, including new ones which might be set up.

It concludes that the Scottish parliament “wishes the church the best of luck with its refurbishment project”.
