GLENROTHES and District Pipe Band are looking forward to the 2012 season getting under way, after winning an impressive array of trophies last year, reports KEVIN QUINN.

Pipe Major Iain Finlay congratulated the members on their hard work last season and hopes for good results this year.

He said: “We won something along the lines of twenty-something firsts and we got third at the Scottish and fifth at the British Championships.

“We also won all the locals contests like Markinch and Thornton. All the Fife ones.

“Everywhere we went we have done well.

“The first one for the new season is in three weeks and the Scottish Championships are in May.

“We are delighted with last year and the way things are at the moment.

“It looks like we could have a better season than last year. The band is more settled and they know exactly what is required.”
