A 10-day series of works is expected to get under way on February 28 as the programme of footway and verge modifications continues on the A92.

A new hard standing for emergency vehicles is being installed by BEAR Scotland in the verge to the south of Balfarg junction and an upgraded footway is being created to link the pavements on either side of it.

The measures are part of a wider programme of work on the A92, including the recently-completed footpath to the east of the road at Balfarg and a reduced speed limit, which is now in force.

Vegetation is being cleared to improve sightlines and the lining at number of junctions has been renewed.

To allow the works to take place safely, and for the protection of road workers, a lane closure will be in place each night for the duration of works, starting on Tuesday.

The scheme is expected to take up to 10 days to complete and will be carried out using a combination of daytime (9.30am-3.30pm) and night-time (7.30pm- midnight) off-peak working.

Andy Thompson, BEAR Scotland’s north east representative, said: “Safety is a top priority for both BEAR Scotland and Transport Scotland, and the delivery of this scheme is part of our ongoing commitment to that.

“While we have taken steps to minimise disruption by scheduling the works to take place off-peak, we’d encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date journey information.”
