THE Glenrothes Stollers Under-13 girls football team have just landed a unique kit sponsorship for next season, the first of its kind in the UK reports, NEIL HENDERSON.

The promising football team has been personally selected by the Cash Generator firm to receive a brand new kit, ensuring the young ladies start the season looking their best on the pitch.

It’s the first time anywhere in the UK that the retail company have sponsored a girls team who have now been fully kitted out ahead of the 2012-13 season.

And following the hand over of the new yellow and blue strips, the Glenrothes Strollers girls team held an impromptu fashion show at the store in Lyon Square Kingdom Centre to the full approval of passing shoppers.

The Glenrothes Strollers’ under 13s coach, Blythe Cunningham was clearly delighted by the new sponsorship deal and told the Gazette: “The girls over the moon to have been presented with the new kit from our sponsors Cash Generator.

“It is very encouraging to see local businesses such as them support the community in this way, I hope we can now do them proud on the football field.”

Sponsor Paul Cormack said: “Six months ago I invested in Glenrothes opening a store in the town centre, the store has been supported by local shoppers since it opened and so I wanted to give something back to the community.

“The Glenrothes Strollers are a big part of the local area and we are lucky enough to offer both male and female youngsters the chance to play football.

“I was thrilled to be able to sponsor the under-13s girls football team, providing the young ladies with a new kit.

“I hope the girls enjoy the kits and go on to have a successful and winning season.”

Shoppers wee quick to give the new strip and the girls the vote of confidence, Rhona Bennett said: “The girls look fantastic, good for them, I hope the go on to win the league or the cup,” while Jenny Gilmour, herself a former keen footballer commented: “There’s more and more girls getting into football and playing for organised teams like the Strollors which is really good, I had a lot of fun over many years when I played and it’s a great way for kids to stay fit and active, good luck to them.”
