ORGANISERS of this year’s Burntisland Civic Week are set to go for gold with a wide range of activities for everyone to enjoy.

The annual event will officially launch next month on Saturday, June 16 with the crowning of the Burntisland Summer Queen at noon followed by the parade through the Links and the High Street.

The theme for this year’s parade - chosen by pupils at Burntisland Primary - is ‘The Olympics and Paralympics’.

As part of this, a mini Olympics ‘Try and See’ will involve youngsters aged between five and 12, trying out the javelin; shot putting and hurdles.

Louise Lindsay (10) is taking on the role as the figurehead for Civic Week 2012 and she will be supported by her entourage of Emily Boyle, Joana Barron, Tess Hadoke, Alice Stark, Morgan Stewart, Ellie Wilson, Lennon Jones and Adam Wilcox.

After the parade, led by Burntisland Pipe Band, there will be the party on the Links which will feature the W3L Wrestlers - sponsored by Briggs Marine - who proved to be very popular at last year’s event.

Also included as part of the afternoon’s entertainment will be The Kingdom of Fife Falconry.

They will present their birds of prey to children between noon and 3.00 p.m. There will also be clowns and dancers as well as the Kingdom FM roadshow.
