Help find Levenmouth's top young citizen

Leven Rotary Club's Young Citizen of the Year 2015 Lisa Whyte, who, among her many accomplishments and voltuntary roles, dances for residents in local care homes.

The title is for a young person who has made an outstanding contribution to the local community, for example by showing courage in overcoming adversity or in an act of bravery, or demonstrating a helping and caring attitude to the disadvantaged.

Entrants must be 21 or under and live in the greater Levenmouth area.

Last year’s Young Citizen of the Year was Lisa Whyte, who was chosen for her sense of community and citizenship.

Lisa, from Leven, and since the young age of six she has been entertaining members of Breathe Easy, a support group network provides support and information for people living with a lung condition, and even helps with exercise classes.

For the two years she has acted as group volunteer, looking after group members who need any kind of help, treating them with kindness and caring while allowing them to retain their independence.

She also takes part in fundraising activities for the group.

Lisa also uses her considerable dance skills to entertain other vulnerable people, regularly visiting local residential and nursing homes to dance for the residents.

She also delivered a presentation as part of the citizenship programme Youth and Philanthropy Initiative to show how it helped people within a local group and, by coming first, won £3000 for the group, Families First.

Families First is a charitable organisation that supports families with children aged 5-16 and who are experiencing difficulties.

She also volunteers as a Sunday School helper at her local church.

She is the youngest pupil at Waid Academy to have achieved a Silver Duke of Edinburgh award and is well on her way to achieving gold and has also clocked up more than 700 hours of volunteering towards her Saltire Award.

Lisa has danced with the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo for the past two years, a voluntary role and being part of the group has allowed her to travel internationally to represent Fife in dance.
