It's a fair cop for Glenrothes artists' show

The Art Club, founded in 1955, is celebrating 61 years of service to the local community.

This year’s exhibition has been described as more of a “contemporary art exhibition, than that of a group of amateur artists” by a senior member of the staff of the Fife Cultural Trust commenting on the quality of the work on display in the Glenrothes Art Club Exhibition.

Some 200 paintings and craft work in a wide range of styles, media and subject are on exhibit.

Each year one painting by an Art Club member is chosen by a panel from Fife Cultural Trust to be the “image” of the exhibition and this year the work is “Fishing” by Daria Swales.

Lilian Sloan, Art Club President urged Fifers to: “Please come along and view this exciting exhibition in the Rothes Halls.

“ We are extending an open invitation to all local people to view the artists’ work.

“This is an exhibition full of colour, inspiration and enchantment,” she commented.

The Exhibition will be declared open on Saturday (August 6) by Chief Inspector Steven Hamilton, Area Commander for Police Scotland.

CI Hamilton has local roots, having attended Auchmuty High School following his family’s resettling in Woodside, Glenrothes.

His career in the police took him to various parts of Fife, before returning to Glenrothes as a Detective Inspector.

Last year he became the most senior Police Officer in the central Fife area.

The Exhibition is open to the public, with free admission, from Monday August 89 until September 14, during the normal opening hours of the Rothes Halls. Access by lift is available.
