Jail for man who attacked women and children in Fife and Edinburgh

A man who subjected various women to a series of physical and sexual attacks has today (Friday) been sentenced to seven years in prison.

At the High Court in Edinburgh in April 2015, Brian McKenzie was convicted for a total of nine offences carried out against three women and three children over a 13-year period.

The victims were aged between eight and 40 at the time of the attacks.

The offences included physical and sexual violence which took place in the Fife area and Edinburgh area.

Some of the victims had previously been involved in a relationship with the now 41-year-old McKenzie, and were identified as a result of proactive enquiries by Police Scotland’s Domestic Abuse Task Force.

Today, McKenzie was sentenced to an Order for Life Long Restriction and to a minimum of seven years imprisonment.

Detective Chief Inspector Sam McCluskey from the DATF said: “Over several years Brian McKenzie subjected women and girls to systematic violence, abuse and sexual assault.

“I would like to thank all the victims for their courage and assistance during the police enquiries as this was vital to securing his conviction.
