Joe Carberry, who’s almost 15, has been blind since birth and has a number of health problems.

He had hoped the handmade trike bought secondhand for him by his parents would help change his life.

But he was left broken-hearted when it was taken from the forecourt of Castle Furniture in Cupar before he’d even had a chance to ride it.

News of his plight spread through local media and thanks to the generosity of local people he’s just taken delivery of a brand new trike custom-made specially for him.

Kingdom FM’s children’s charity Kingdom Kids teamed up with Leslie Bike Shop in Glenrothes and Kent-based Mission Cycles, who specialise in making bikes and trikes for people with special needs, to come to Joe’s aid.

Now he’s ‘over the moon’ that at last he’s able to get out and about like other youngsters.

Said Joe’s mum Michelle: “I am absolutely overwhelmed with gratitude for how everyone came together to help.

“I can’t thank Castle enough for everything they’ve done, by setting us up with the original trike and the campaign they launched when it was it unfortunately stolen.

“Everyone from Kingdom Kids and Leslie Bike Shop were fantastic and have made this boy a very happy one”.

Andy Bain, of Leslie Bike Shop, said:“I’m incredibly proud to be associated with Joe and so happy to see him get his new trike.”

And Lesley Cox, of Castle Furniture, commented: “I would like to thank everyone involved in getting us this far.

“All of your support has been amazing and more than we thought possible.”
