Auchtermairnie Care Home, near Kennoway, is to be recognised as one of the country’s leading care homes at a prestigious awards ceremony, celebrating the best of the independent care home sector in Scotland.
The establishment, in Star Road, has been selected from nearly 300 entries as a finalist in the Dementia Service category at the Scottish Care Awards 2014.
The ceremony is being held at the Glasgow Hilton Hotel this Friday.
The Scottish Care National Care Home Conference, now in its 15th year, has incorporated an awards ceremony for the last 10 years.
These awards have been hailed a huge success in recognising individuals, teams and companies, with more entries than ever flooding in each year from employers and employees nominating their peers and colleagues.
The care awards follow a full-day conference for the care home sector.
The sponsor of the conference, the Bank of Scotland, and representatives from the Care Inspectorate, CoSLA and Scottish Government will address delegates on emerging themes around policy and practice in health and social care for older people.
A spokesman for Auchtermairnie said: “We are very surprised but thrilled and honoured to be chosen as one of the finalists in these prestigious awards.”
Nominating the home for the award, the operators stated: “Our staff continue to be very passionate about our dementia-friendly unit and we will all continue to look for new ways to improve the environment and the quality of care our residents receive to enhance their quality of life.”
