Fife Council has welcomed the news that communities in the Kingdom can share the excitement of the London 2012 Olympic Torch relay.
Fifers will get the chance to welcome the Olympic Flame as it makes its way through several parts of the Kingdom.
Dunfermline, Crossford, Cairneyhill, Auchtermuchty, St Andrews, Newburgh, Cupar, Dairsie, Guardbridge and Leuchars are 10 of over 1,000 villages, towns and cities announced by the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) through which the Olympic Flame will be carried by Torchbearers during the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay which is presented by Coca-Cola, Bank of Scotland and Samsung.
LOCOG has worked closely with representatives from a number of sectors in Fife to devise the route.
Provost of Fife, Councillor Frances Melville, said it was fantastic news that people and communities will get the chance to be part of such an historic event.
She said: “We can’t wait to welcome the Olympic Torch to Fife. Not only will this event give people a chance to celebrate the countdown to the start of the Games it will highlight once again that Fife is a great place to live, work and visit.”
