Kinglassie residents can expect a blueprint for the area’s future to be delivered to their homes following the launch of a five year community action plan for the village.
The plan emerged from the Coalfields Regeneration Trust’s coalfields community futures programme, which supported the local steering group to produce the plan, as well as putting up a £20,000 participatory budget to get projects off the ground.
Sheena McGowan, steering group member, said: “We have a team of volunteers who will distribute the plan to every house in the village over the next couple of weeks. I think it’s an excellent document that brings real focus to the work of the Community Council and Kinglassie Action Group, and all the other organisations and clubs whose individual contributions will bring the plan to life. We owe a big vote of thanks to the Coalfields Regeneration Trust staff and trustee Nicky Wilson.”
Peter Grant MP said: “I know from personal experience how much time and effort has gone into producing this action plan, and I think that shines through in the final document. It brings together the efforts of all the community groups and voluntary workers and it’s great that the CRT has provided funding for key projects.”
Nicky Wilson, trustee, said: “Kinglassie’s action plan is a really well researched and impressive document and I look forward to seeing these excellent projects become a reality over the next few years”.
