A Kirkcaldy teenager is due to travel to Blackpool next week to compete for the crown of Miss Teen Great Britain.
Sharri Allan (19), a former St Andrews High School pupil, will join around 60 other competitors from across the country at the annual contest, the brain-child of former pageant winner Holly Ikin.
I know I’ve got some tough competition, but I’m excitedSharri Allan
This is Sharri’s first ever pageant competition and she explained that it was her mum Nicola who put her forward for the initial stage.
“My mum actually entered me into the competition. I had always spoken about doing something like this, but I was quite shocked when I got the letter, although I was really happy too.”
Sharri was crowned Miss Teen Fife earlier this summer, having been chosen from a list of girls by a panel of experts, and she said: “I’m actually quite proud of myself because I didn’t think I would get this far, it’s really exciting.”
Sharri will travel to Blackpool for the competition next Monday and Tuesday, where she will have the chance to get to know the other girls who are in the running for the Miss Teen Great Britain title at a slumber party and challenge day at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
Then at night, it’ll be gladrags on for the big contest.
Sharri said: “I’m really nervous but I have my dress ready so that helps.
“I know I’ve got some tough competition, but I’m excited.”
If Sharri takes the crown, not only will she win £1000, she’ll be treated to a whole host of beauty goodies too.
Sharri added: “Now that I’ve managed to get this far in this competition, I would definitely do something like this again. I’ve seen quite a few events I would like to take part in, and when I turn 20 I’ll be able to take part in even more.”
Nicola, Sharri’s mum, said: “We are all very proud of her.”
