Kirkcaldy incident - one dead, one in hospital

One man is dead and another in hospital following an incident at a flat in the centre of Kirkcaldy.

Part of Victoria Road remains cordoned off and officers are at the scene.

They were called in the early hours of Monday morning.

Police Scotland confirmed a man was pronounced dead at the scene, while a second man was taken to Victoria Hospital. His injuries are said to be non life threatening.

The normal busy junction at Bennochy Bridge remains cordoned off.

The main road is taped off as is the walkway and officers can be scene at both the front and back of the flats at the centre of the investigation.

Scenes of crimes officers were expected around lunchtime.

Police Scotland issued a statement late morning on the incident.

They confirmed there had been a fatality.

It stated: said:: “Police were called to an address in Victoria Road, Kirkcaldy, around 5am on Monday.

Emergency services attended, and a man was pronounced dead at the scene by the Scottish Ambulance Service.

‘‘A man was also taken to the Victoria Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

“Enquiries are continuing and anyone with information which may be able to help is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
