The National Lottery has revealed that the KY postcode is officially one of the luckiest in Scotland.
The Kirkcaldy postcode area is home to the fourth highest number of big money lottery winners - £50,000 and above - per head of population in Scotland over the past two years.
Not only is it one of Scotland’s top five, along with Paisley, Kilmarnock, Dundee and Inverness it makes the UK top ten, ranking ninth.
In total 24 top tier prizes of at least £50,000 have been banked by players in the KY postcode, including the creation of 11 Lottery millionaires. This makes KY one of the luckiest of the UK’s 121 postcode areas.
Local winners who have shared news of their luck include a syndicate of 25 nurses and staff from Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy who scooped £126,530 on EuroMillions.
Andy Carter, senior winners’ advisor for The National Lottery, said, “Residents of Fife have been enjoying plenty of National Lottery luck recently, so much so they are one of the luckiest postcodes in the UK.
“With plenty of big money wins and an amazing 11 millionaires created over the last two years, they have lots to celebrate.”
It isn’t just individuals winning big, the community benefits from the money raised by The National Lottery.
In 2015 94 grants worth £3,172,022 were distributed to National Lottery funded projects across the Fife local authority area including setting up a foodbank at the Glenrothes YMCA.
