Kirkcaldy road closed after gas main ruptured

A gas leak has closed a Kirkcaldy road, with emergency service vehicles in attendance.

Hayfield Place, at the industrial estate, has been closed by the authorities after a ruptured gas main was reported.

Police confirmed that they were alerted at 2.50pm this afternoon, and that it was a fire service-led incident.

Hayfield Place has been closed at the junction with Hendry Road.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We were alerted at 2.23pm on Wednesday, September 5 to reports of a suspected gas leak at Hayfield Place, Kirkcaldy.

“Operations Control immediately mobilised a number of resources to the scene and firefighters assisted partners in making the area safe.”
