Three Kirkcaldy men have decided to run a half marathon every month for the rest of the year, all in the name of charity.
Steven Mackie (23), Andrew Doriano (23) and Stuart Gibson (24) all from Kirkcaldy, have taken on the huge feat after agreeing to it following a night out.
The trio decided they wanted to do something to raise as much money as possible for Cancer Research UK and after completing the Edinburgh half marathon last year, the answer was simple.
Steven said: “We all found taking part in the marathon last year relatively okay so we thought ‘well, why not?’ - but I must admit, we were all under the influence at the time!
“When we told everybody about our plan at first, they didn’t quite believe that we would go through with it until we completed the first one and posted it on Facebook.
“We love the fundraising aspect of these events so we decided to try and raise as much money as we can for Cancer Research as I think that everybody has been affected in some way by the disease.”
The men haven’t been training as much as they should according to Steven, but now they have their first run under their belts, they are looking forward to their next challenge.
“We ran from Kirkcaldy to Burntisland and back along the Fife Coastal Path and it was really cold! “But we still did it,” continued Steven.
“Our plan is to run different routes similiar to the first one all over Scotland including Dundee, Edinburgh and in Aberdeen.
“We just want to be able to raise as much money as possible,” Steven added.
