The popular Aberdour Festival will take place again this summer for its 32nd year.

The organising committee are delighted to announce that the festival returns for 2015 from July 31 to August 9.

And in order to get everyone in the mood they are hosting a launch night on Friday, May 29.

This year’s festival has the theme ‘food and drink, light and soil’ and organisers say it promises to be even more exciting than usual.

Once again there will be a packed programme of events taking place over the 10-day festival and there will be something for everyone.

Among the highlights for this year are performances by singer songwriter Dougie MacLean, local rock band Break the Butterfly, support from Kenny Martin and Rab Thomson, comedian Craig Hill and Red Time Timber Company.

A spokesman for the organisers told the Press: “Aberdour Festival wouldn’t be the same without the crowning of the village King and Queen, topical talks, the annual pet show, the raft race, Haughcross, Donkey Brae, beach day and sandcastle competition and of course our near sell out children’s programme.

“This year we also hope to have the return of the much missed Aberdour Castle family picnic.”

Next week’s launch night celebration takes place in the Institute on Shore Road, Aberdour, with doors opening at 7.30 p.m.

There is sure to be something to whet your appetite as there will be cocktail making, local choir SingIt and food creation.

There will also be a raffle and spot quizzes with prizes.

Tickets for the programme launch event are free, but registration is required in advance as spaces are limited.

Next week’s event is also an opportunity to buy ‘Hot Tickets’ for the festival at discounted rates.

The event will also offer the chance to find out more about what’s in store for those attending the festival in the summer.
