Work is progressing on plans to create a new tourist attraction in Levenmouth.

The ‘Levenmouth Loop’ would take walkers across beaches and golf courses, past historic sights and local landmarks, highlighting the best the area has to offer.

The idea was suggested earlier this year by Councillor Colin Davidson, who believes the path would attract tourists and thus bolster the case for the rail link.

Work has been progressing on the proposal, with council officers set to decide on sites for information boards.

Cllr Davidson says he has received a number of supportive messages from local businesses keen on helping the project come together.

“It’s a no brainer because 95 per cent of the infrastructure is already in place,” he said.

“All we have to do is formalise it and highlight the different points of interest along the route. It can also be linked to the Pilgrim’s Route.

“It’s an incredible opportunity for us to bring people to the area, to encourage them to walk the ‘loop’ and use local businesses.”

The proposed route would begin at the sports centre, along the beach up to Silverburn Park, before cutting inland and across to Blacketyside Farm.

It would then head to Kennoway, under the viaduct and along the river.
